Coup de coeur of the week: J.Crew

To be honest, this is actually more my coup de coeur of the last months and the upcoming summer, rather than my coup coeur of de week.

Why have I chosen to talk about it this week?

A bit of background first about my shopping behaviour.

In fashion, I am very unfaithful (shame on me!) to brands and love nothing more than scouting the web (as with my work and mummy duties I have little patience time to wander on the highstreet or department stores) for cool old and new brands or new finds. I call those the “extras” and they are like, some kind  of fashion love affair: trilling, secret and very satisfying (!)

But these “extras” can be quite (online) time consuming and not always 100% reliable (a bit like non exclusive dating…or what I recall of it from million years ago). So, I also like to have the reassurance of a couple of “core” brands that I love, that offer consistently the flow of clothes I fancy. A fail safe really, a bit like some sort of fashion marriage!

Over the last couple of years, COS has been my wonderful “core”. And although I still l-o-v-e it, I felt like I needed another “core” brand to hum, spice things up.

When J.Crew came first on my radar 3 or 4 years ago, it was through its wonderful CEO and creative director Jenna Lyons, which is for me one of the most stylish woman on the planet: a unique flair in mixing masculin and feminin, colours and patterns for an effortless elegant yet relaxed and modern look.

She is not only the creative genius behind  the brand’s effortless coolness equity, but also the business brain that transformed a dainty catalogue business like J.Crew to super fashion stardom. Beauty and Brain? What’s not to love? I heart you Jenna (just in case you happen to read this blog!).

Sadly at the time J.Crew weren’t “officially” selling in the UK so I had to restrain my passion.

When they became officially available in the UK through a small selection on net-a-porter.com and then their uk e-shop, I started dutifully building my collection. However it kept restrained to the odd pair of soft denim shirt or colourful comfy jeans at a time.

That was until the summer collection launch. The sleek silhouettes, the sophisticated pairing of simple cotton and denim tops to gorgeous sophisticated trousers and knee length pencil skirts (as I am increasingly on the wrong side of 30 I have found me a new love for longer hemlines!).

What can I say? As we speak, I am ordering my summer capsule (in the current freezing London weather it makes absolute sense…and is actually a much needed boost to my (mental) well-being).

What think? Are you J.Crew fans too?

Bisous bisous

    Li liha liha!
