But I have an excuse. An excuse the size of a (new) home.
Yes you guessed it, after 9 months of building work (vs. the originally estimated 3 months) and completely draining our savings (well technically Hubby’s savings given that I don’t really do savings), we have FINALLY moved into our new home last week.
Great fabulous news BUT if I thought I was done, our new lovely home had some suprises in-store for me!
1. Our new home is freezing (given that we had to technically move in before some of our windows were properly fitted so bored we were with waiting). So I caught a cold. A cold so bad I missed work – shock, horror – and disappointly the world kept on moving but that’s an another ego busting realisation I will dwell on later.
2. Our new home is food free. So I put on weight. Counter intuitive? Perhaps. But not when your alternative to no-food-at-home is the PBS (Pizza, Burger, Sandwich) carb bonanza favoured by Hubby (how by the way NEVER puts on weight!).
3. Our new home is
furniture free very minimalistic at this stage. So the Little Man took on a new “screaming” hobby, marvelling at the wonders of echooooooooos. 1 word: headache (or is actually 2?). Should definitely not have sold the old furniture before getting the new ones.
4. Our new home is still full of cardboard – unpacked (and still packed to be completely honest) boxes. So I have an allergy rash on my skin. Not a good look.
5. Our home is internet and TV less. So I couldn’t really log into my blog (and no I am not that “digital” that I type in stuff on my mobile). Thankfully Hubby took this into his very capable hands and got it sorted in less than 10 days. Anybody who ever took care of setting up their new internet connection, please applaud this breakthrough record performance.
All this being said, our new home is LOVELY.
Because it is our home.
A home we (kind of) build with love.
A true reflexion of who we are, which one week later feels already more like US: a little bit more comfy, relaxed, warm, cosy and connected (AND of course more importantly a fridge that has some yummy food …not cooked by me so you can actually trust the “yummy” claim).
Welcome to our new home!
